Christina Owczarek
XhAle Brew Co.
XhAle Brew Co.’s founder Christina Owzarek is a Canadian immigrant, Australian expat, & forever citizen of the world. Dedicated to adventure, knowledge, growth, community success & craft beer, Christina has channeled these passions into starting a brewing brand which creates provocative beer for conscious thinkers & drinkers. It is a culmination of over a decade of craft beer travel & study, seven years of professional experience in industry - including being the first woman to teach in the Brewmasters program at Olds College - and a lifetime of trying to find her purpose.
The company currently runs on sweat equity with an aim to be a hybrid co-op model that prizes people first in more equitable and democratic structures, and humane and compassionate work environments. 10-12% of our total gross revenue also goes back to non-for-profits to help cushion the effects of poverty, and open up opportunity for others.
As the founder, Christina wears many hats, including strategy planning and implementation, sales development and growth, marketing and branding management, human relations and team alignment, event organization, partnerships and brand collaborations, financial and fiduciary responsibilities, funding and business development, beer recipe development, brewing schedules, product quality assurance and control, ingredient procurement, and contractor relationships.
As time and access to more resources help evolve XhAle, Christina is hoping to be able to give up some of her exhaustive list of small business ownership roles, putting people with more experience, expertise, and nuanced skill sets in place to develop and run these necessary functions.
When this happens Christina will have more time to also get back to immersing herself in martial arts practice (Muay Thai and BJJ), attending music festivals, reading obscure books, skiing, and sleeping.
